LEGISLATOR'S REPORT FOR APRIL 2013
My invited guests at the Harford Senior Center on Wednesday, April 17th at five o'clock will be several county officials and a representative from Casella who will give us updates on recycling. This will be the first evening meal of the season. I will be giving my monthly report as usual. Come join us for good food, a good program and good company.
The county has joined a dental program that is available for all county residents. It was noted that 43percent of people don't have dental insurance. There is a national network of participating dentists, as well as ten in Cortland and 300 in surrounding area that will do dentistry work at a reduced rate. Individual yearly rate is $36.50 or $52 for family plans. The only costs to the county will be the printing of the forms. Forms will be available soon at various county offices as well as the Town Clerk's office.
Landfill Amnesty week for municipalities will be April 6-10th. Tires will be excluded as an item that is exempt from tipping fees.
After months of discussion a resolution declaring the adequacy of the draft environmental impact statement for the proposed wind farm was unanimously passed. Now the public can weigh in with their comments until July 26th. There will also be three public hearings in June.
The CCTV S (County, City, Towns, Villages and Schools) meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:00 PM in room 304 of the County Office Building. The topics will be updates on county roads, Little York Lake Dam, and a dental plan for all county residents. A round table discussion will follow on any topics of interest. All are invited.
Is there anything I should be aware of or doing?
